Shipping Policy


HOW QUICKLY WILL I GET MY ORDER?

Time for delivery will depend on your location and the shipping service selected.

The Tab Department will generally dispatch custom index tabs within 3-4 business days after the order unless rush service is selected. Pre-printed index tabs, blank tabs, and copier tabs generally ship in 1-2 business days. Most professional index tabs ship in 1-2 business days but larger orders may require more time. Turn-around on binders will depend on the level of customization and ranges from next day to up to three weeks.

Our daily cutoff is 1:00pm EST; orders placed after 1:00pm will be considered as being placed the following business day.

Unexpected equipment failure, malfunction and or technical problems may delay the production process. Any period or date for delivery of goods or provision of services is intended as a best-effort estimate only and is not a contractual commitment. While The Tab Department will make every effort to meet its estimated delivery times, under no circumstances will The Tab Department be liable for any costs or damages resulting from delay.


WHERE DO WE SHIP?

We ship in Canada and to the United States. If you are interested in custom index tabs and live elsewhere please call us and special arrangements can be made. 
When your order has been processed and shipped, you will receive a confirmation email indicating the expected date of delivery and a tracking number. Shipping fees include handling and packing fees as well as shipping costs. Handling fees are fixed, whereas transport fees vary according to total weight of the shipment. 


HOW MUCH DOES SHIPPING COST?

The cost of shipping is depends on the quote provided by the carrier. If you shop while logged into your account then shipping will be calculated and displayed in your cart as you shop. If you are using the site as a Guest then shipping will be calculated after you enter your address.

Some online printers subsidize discounted prices by marking up their shipping at the Tab Department we do not markup shipping. For FedEx the cost provided is a live quote from FedEx and Tab Department offers shipping at cost plus a $5 handing charge. For our freight delivery live quotes are not available so we have attempted to offer estimates that are as accurate as possible.

Shipping rates for high quantity products depend on the customer's access to a shipping dock and forklift, otherwise additional charges may apply. If you are ordering in large quantities shipping will be calculated by the skid. HOW DOES TAB DEPARTMENT SHIP?

The Tab Department ships with FedEx. For orders over a certain weight you will also have a freight shipping option. In most cases the freight option will be just as fast as FedEx but will cost less. Because of the way Tab Department interfaces with FedEx’s API for orders over roughly 350lbs we will not get a live quote. For orders over 350lbs you will only receive the freight estimate.


CAN TAB DEPARTMENT SHIP ON MY ACCOUNT?

Tab Department offers shipping on customer accounts only for large orders or recurring orders. If you have an account with a preferred carrier then call us and we will do our best to accommodate your shipping preferences.


CAN I PICK UP MY JOB AT THE PLANT?

Our Ottawa west facility is a production facility and our downtown office is our administrative – neither is set up for retail customers. That being said Tab Department is about customer service so if you call us we’ll see what we can do about accommodating your request.
