Do you deliver to where I live?
Yes, we deliver anywhere in the world. From our online store we ship to Canada and the United States. For shipping to anywhere else please contact The Tab Department so we can process your order manually.
It depends on what you have ordered, where you are located, and which shipping method you have selected. If you have an account and are logged in the site will show you exact shipping prices while you shop. If you are shopping as a Guest the site will provide you with an exact price when you are at the checkout and have entered your address. The Tab Department does not markup our shipping. The price you will be charged is based on the shipping rate calculated by weight using our carriers' built-in APIs.
Which shipping carriers do you use?
We use FedEx Ground for most orders, with options for Canada Post and overland trucking. Our preferred carrier is FedEx and on the website you will be given live shipping quotes directly from their API based on your address and the weight of the items you have added to your cart. Please note that if you are shopping as a Guest or are not logged into your account we won't yet have a destination and cannot offer live quotes while shopping. Guest accounts will have their shipping calculated at checkout before payment, once the system has a desination postal code. If you'd like shipping quotes while shopping please register for an account. In addition to FedEx The Tab Department will also ship using various trucking companies that we have relationships with. For larger orders this will often be a fraction of the cost. For orders in the Ottawa area we offer our customers shipping with a local courier or you can pick up your order at either of our locations. For our United States customers we also offer USPS shipping which takes longer than FedEx but is a great value.Canadian rural customers enjoy similarly great rates from Canada Post. For urban locations in Canada FedEx is the same price or less than Canada Post but faster. Canada Post though is considerably less expensive for rural customers so we offer it as an option. Lastly, in addition to our carriers we are also happy to ship orders on your account if you have a preferred courier. Please contact us and we will process your order manually and ship on your shipping account.
How long will it take me to have my order in my hands?
It depends on which shipping method you have chosen and where the parcel is going. In our experience GTA/Montreal are each next day after the order ships, Winnipeg is two days, Calgary 3 and Vancouver 4 - 5. At checkout the site will provide you with several shipping options based on the address you entered as well as their estimated transit time. With respect to the index tabs leaving us -- The Tab Department will ship our stock index tabs the next day. For custom index tabs you will receive a proof for your approval shortly after placing an order and the index tabs will be shipped within three days of you approving the proof. Please note, all turnaround times are in working days (Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays) and do not apply to larger orders or orders on custom stock. For larger orders please contact a customer service associate and we can discuss the particulars of your order.
Does the turnaround include shipping time?
Turnaround is only for production of your custom index tabs or custom binders. Shipping time begins when the tabs leave the plant. Shipping to most places in Ontario and Quebec is next day or next day +1. Shipping outside of Ontario and Quebec varies between 2-5 business days for FedEx ground. FedEx offers express options depending on your location and can usually get your items to you next day for an extra charge. Please note: If you're in the GTA or Montreal, choosing the express option at checkout will in most cases only expedite the shipping by a couple of hours. Unless you need your index tabs or binders first thing in the morning we recommend FedEx Ground for these customers.
I need my order delivered sooner, can I pay extra for a faster turnaround?
Rush orders are sometimes an option. If you are in a rush for an event please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request. At Tab Department we take customer service to an extreme so if it is possible we will do it even if it means running production through the night. Obviously we also want to treat our staff well so if we need to ask them to cancel plans or work all night we are going to reward them which means typically rush fees are required for rush service.
Can I collect my order from Tab Department directly?
Not normally but we will make exceptions if you contact us. Nether of our locations are retail locations open to the public but we can make arrangements for you to pick up your order as long as we know you're coming.
